Pegatron to ship 15 million CDMA iPhones this year
To get an idea on just how much of a push Verizon will make with their recently announced CDMA iPhone, Pegatron, one of the major manufacturers, is tipped to ship anywhere from 12 million to 15 million units of these puppies this year. Sounds like good news? Absolutely – considering the company needed this bit of boost to help it cover the recent loss of orders when it came to notebooks. At time of publishing, Pegatron is currently reorganizing itself after the 2010 spin-off from Asustek Computer, which means new orders from notebook vendors such as Acer were still limited, hitting Pegatron’s bottom line pretty severely with its 2010 revenues hitting just 8.1% on year to only NT$424.84 billion (US$14.64 billion). The 12 to 15 million figure is a 20% to 50% increase of its initial internal forecast, so the workers there need not worry about a layoff – at least for the moment.
