iSONIC cane for the virtually impaired

[CES 2011] So the iSONIC cane might use ultrasonic sensors to detect whatever’s around you within a 7-foot radius, it won’t turn you into Daredevil just yet. As mentioned, it will use the two ultrasonic sensors located on the handle of the iSONIC which is capable of detecting obstacles within a 2 meter distance, 55 degrees vertically, and 25 degrees horizontally, where it will let you know how close you are to the particular obstacle based on the strength of the vibration.

To make it more interesting, the iSONIC cane is even capable of detecting the color of a certain object by speaking it out including red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, white and black. Apart from that, it might also help you avoid more shady areas in town as it can obtain the brightness level around you in bright, dark and medium, now how about that?

As for battery life, the iSONIC cane is on standby for up to 72 hours, although it will last up to just 11 hours if it was vibrating constantly. This isn’t going to come cheap though, costing from $800 to $900 as Primpo (the company who churned out the iSONIC) is currently looking for a local distributor for the iSONIC cane.
