Android tops the iPhone in terms of total users for the first time

We already knew that there was plenty of momentum behind Google’s Android mobile operating system and now the statistics are in, confirming that Android has passed the iPhone in terms of the total number of users for the first time, clinching the second spot, right behind RIM’s BlackBerry. In the report that analyzed US smartphone subscribers, it was noted that the top three included the BlackBerry, Android OS devices and iPhone, nabbing 33.5 percent, 26 percent and 25 percent respectively. If you’re fond of bad news, you’ll probably have noticed that RIM’s market share dropped 4.1 percent, as opposed to Google’s 6.4 percent jump.
