The legal battle between Oracle’s Java and Google’s Android has been going on for a while and now it seems that it might actually have a case. It has been discovered that at least 43 Android source files appear to have been directly copied from Java. Some other files in Android Froyo and Gingerbread also appear to have been decompiled from the Java 2 Standard Edition and redistributed under the Apache open source license without permission. In simple terms, it more or less looks like Google copied Oracle’s Java code, swapped the license and shipped it out the door. These legal battles are always lengthy and expensive, but hopefully a resolution will be found soon.
