We do remember back in the day where Instant Messaging (IM) started to pick up, and there were a fair number of players in the market like Yahoo! Messenger, Windows Messenger (now Windows Live), ICQ, AOL Chat, mIRC, and Skype, opening up so many programs and having them run in the background often hogs up a whole lot of memory and computing resources for most people. Thank the heavens that there was Trillian back then (until now), where it consolidated all of those IM programs into a single point of contact, while freeing up more resources for other programs to use. Of course, there is a major drawback to this – dedicated features of different IMs couldn’t be implemented, but that’s the price to pay.
We’re glad to announce that Trillian for Android is now available, and this stable version will even let you remain connected to Wi-Fi even when the phone is asleep, not to mention switching to a “battery saving mode” whenever poll times are longer so that your handset won’t run out of juice that fast. The main drawback for Trillian for Android? Its $4.99 price tag. We guess that isn’t too much to pay for if you’re a hardcore IM addict who needs to stay in touch at all times, round the clock.
