Pardon the pun in the title, but the Ruler Clock is certainly an interesting DIY project that you might want to occupy yourself with over the weekend. It relies on a handful of stepper motors which are driven by a motor shield that is connected to an Arduino. What makes the small steppers interesting is the fact that they can be found for free, so the next time you actually see someone throw away a disposable $50 printer due to ink refills being so freaking expensive, why not sneak one back and dismantle it to harvest the small steppers within. Both scanners and floppy drives are also perfect if you’re looking for free steppers. We will never look at a standard ruler the same way again with this DIY Ruler Clock.
