Today is Angry Birds day, and while that doesn’t mean we can take a day off and play nothing but Angry Birds, this piece of news is related to the game’s developer, Rovio. Rovio has gone ahead with its new Bad Piggy Bank billing system without waiting for Google to churn out its own system for in-app microtransactions. This is a direct-to-network billing system, letting items purchased within its games to be billed straight to your mobile account. Sounds like a dream come true? That’s right, so far only local Finnish network Elisa is compatible with this billing system, so for the rest of us, we will have to wait. On the bright side, once it is available, those running Angry Birds on Android will have the option for an ad-free version purchase, but that’s happening only next year.
