JVC announced that it will be placing an LSI chip into its consumer camcorders, which will bring features such as 3D HD video recording and high speed processing of videos and high resolution images thanks to the 40 nm chip technology. LSI technology will use less power while enabling more power on one single chip. Noted to be 2.7 times faster than older processors used on camcorders, which can enable 8.3-megapixel video at 60 frames per second. The company didn’t announce which products the LSI chip will ship, but it is expected to land in the company’s Everio lineup in the future. A consumer camcorder with LSI functionality will be displayed at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.
