Rodman & Renshaw analyst Ashok Kumar says that Apple’s next-generation iPad, expected to be refreshed in March and entering the product line as a second generation tablet, will be equipped with a dual-core processor. The current generation Apple iPad tablet was launched with Apple’s customized A4 processor, which is clocked at 1 Ghz of power. Kumar believes that the next iPad iteration will come with a dual-core ARM Cortex A9-based processor with 1 Ghz of computing power per core. Kumar did not specify if Apple will customize the CPU, like it had done with the A4, or will use components from suppliers such as NVIDIA with its Tegra 2 chipset that is expected to be widely available on a number of tablets and smartphones in 2011.
