Germany-based IMO has unveiled the largest solar tracker of South Carolina that features a footprint larger than most homes. Featuring a 1,614sqf area, the panel is smart enough to turn itself and face the sun’s brightest spot in order to capture more energy. The panel measures in at a good 53-feet tall and has a performance rating of 22.5KW. The system is capable of generating about 42,000KWh of electricity annually, which should be equal to the amount of energy generated by burning 34,000lbs of coal. The solar tracker is touted to offer enough juice to power almost four homes for a year and offsets about 87,000lbs of CO2. Of course, such a large solar panel would be quite an eyesore in your back yard, assuming you have a back yard large enough to store this.
