Dell Adamo priced Down to $899… Too Late?

Dell has reduced the price of its Dell Adamo ultra-portable to $899 from its previous $1099 heights. It’s not clear if the price cut is temporary or permanent, but this is the latest in a string of price cuts since we reviewed the Adamo. Back when it was first released, the Adamo was at the cutting-edge of thinness and it wasn’t hard for the crowds to “fall in love” (that’s what Adamo means) with it. However, people just could not afford to spend that kind of money on a computer that was basically only capable of productivity tasks.

The new price makes it  more interesting than, but I wonder if it can compete with the Macbook Air (MBA) in this market. The Adamo has a  faster CPU, but its graphics processor won’t challenge the NVIDIA GeForce 320M of the Air. At 3.97lbs, The Adamo is also heavier then the Macbook Air 13 (3lbs) and obviously the Air 11″ (2lbs). The battery life contest might also be a challenge for the Adamo. And to make things worse for Dell, the MBA runs Windows 7 very well (you have to buy a license though), as we’ve shown in our Macbook Air Review.
