Augmented reality (AR) technology is definitely impressive and popular amongst iPhone apps. Now some folks out there have discovered that the Mobile Safari browser seems to have an AR-like capability built into it that has pretty much gone unnoticed until now. A company called Occipital has developed a panoramic photo iPhone app and has come across the feature in Safari for iOS 4.2 devices that is related to the gyroscope (available in the iPhone 4 and latest iPod touch). This implementation allows you to experience the AR feel right in the browser itself and you can give it a test drive at http://occip.it/pt3dmqna using your Mobile Safari browser.
