Yahoo! Messenger on Android gets video chatting ability

Video calls using 3G technology has been around for quite some time already, but we rarely see people use that, as most folks seem to rely on voice-to-voice communications more. Perhaps it is because you need to hold up the phone and talk using a Bluetooth headset to maintain the privacy of your conversation, or it could be due to the slightly higher cost per call – whatever the case is, it has failed to take off in a big way. Well, we suppose if it were to be free, then the adoption rate might see an increase. Yahoo! decided to throw in video chatting capability into Android-powered smartphones, so make sure you get one that has a front-facing camera otherwise it would feel as though you were speaking to a wall, with the back of the phone facing you. The new version of Yahoo! Messenger for Android will require Android 2.2 at the very least, so do take note of that.
