Word is going around that PhotoFast may have been asked by Apple to halt production of its SSD upgrade kit for the new MacBook Air. If the rumors are true, the company had been asked to stop production a week back, though the halt might not be permanent scenario as it’s waiting to see if it could resume production. Apparently PhotoFast agreed to stop production to continue its involvement in Apple’s MFi accessories program. It’s worth noting that the SSD upgrade kit doesn’t seem to violate any of Apple’s patents since it uses a standard SATA interface and the chipsets are based on the SandForce memory controller. Neither Apple nor PhotoFast has commented on this issue yet, so it’s best to take it with a pinch of salt.
