Barnes & Noble announced their NOOKcolor ebook reader around three weeks ago, and it is nice to see the device fleshed out to the masses, as it has started to ship for $249 a pop. Just to recap (in case you’ve been living under a rock for the past month or so), the NOOKcolor sports a 7-inch IPS touchscreen display at 1024 x 600 resolution, is powered by Google’s Android operating system and can surf the Internet as well, being capable of running third party apps in theory to make this one of the more affordable Android-powered tablets to date. We have already taken the NOOKcolor out for a spin, so do check out our hands-on experience. On a sidenote, NOOK 3G and NOOK Wi-Fi owners will be glad to know that they will be receiving a major update sometime next week, so stay tuned!
