The folks over at Microsoft must be smiling from ear to ear as the software giant is now expecting to sell five million Kinect motion sensors through the holiday shopping season. The new figure offers a significant jump from the company’s original expectation of three million units for the same time period. In a recent interview, head of Microsoft’s entertainment unit, Don Mattrick, was quoted as saying that Presales have exceeded expectations. With the Kinect slated to reach more than 30,000 retail locations and midnight events scheduled at 5,000 stores for the launch, it’s not too hard to imagine such sales figures being achieved.
