Google’s VP of engineering for Chrome was quoted recently in an interview stating that the company is planning to expand Chrome OS beyond netbooks. While the operating system is designed for traditional computing, there is a potential for it to be used as an alternative to Android on small-sized devices and Google TV on large displays. The operating system would likely include touch input since tablets are becoming increasingly popular too. The statements do contradict those of CEO Eric Schmidt, though, who recently stated that Chrome OS wasn’t suitable for touch input. That being said, with technology advancing at the pace that it is, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see Chrome OS evolve very fast.
