Barnes & Noble has promised that a major Nook update is on the way, slated to arrive before the holidays. The 1.5 patch is touted as being able to dramatically increase the page turn speed and other performance aspects of the Android-based reader. Sync has also been improved and should fully remember book positions across the Android, computer, and iPad/iPhone apps as long as they’re hooked up to the Internet. Other improvements include the ability to password lock the device, not to mention better search and a means of organizing the books on the device. Barnes & Noble already plan to have the 1.5 patch installed in devices in late November and will be offering direct Wi-Fi updates along with a manual upgrade from a computer.
