Android 2.2 (Froyo) isn’t even out on all phones yet, and we already have whispers of Android 3.0 aka Gingerbread. Well, word on the street has it that Motorola’s upcoming NVIDIA Tegra 2-powered Android phone might be the first to roll out with Gingerbread. If historical patterns are a precedent, this could be a very valid truth as Motorola was first out of the gates to release an Android 2.0 phone with their Droid. Still, the handset won’t be out anytime soon this year, but early 2011 might be a better targeted date. There are also whispers going around that Verizon won’t be offering it as an exclusive, and Motorola might launch it across multiple carriers. Best to read this with a tub of salt until something more concrete comes along.
