Marantz announces Melody Media AirPlay certified music system

Marantz’s Melody Media, touted to be the first AirPlay certified music system in the world, will allow you to pump out your iTunes library across virtually any speaker setup which plays nice with it. This will be an all-in-one device that is a multi-format supporting system, comprising of which a CD drive that can handle CDR/RW, MP3 and WMA encoded discs to boot. Sick and tired of your own tunes? Radio functions are aplenty thanks to the presence of DAB/DAB+, FM and AM tuners with a 50 preset channel memory. Just in case streaming music gets boring, you can always plug in your iPod or iPhone directly. Other specifications include a couple of stereo amplifiers, being DLNA compliant while the M-XPort allows one to stream music via Bluetooth using the optional RX101 Bluetooth receiver. Expect the Marantz Melody Media to retail for £499 when it arrives later this month, while another £40 is required for the AirPlay firmware update that rolls out in November.
