If for some reason you want to have a Wi-Fi repeater in the great outdoors without a power outlet in sight, you could always build one with your fancy DIY skills, such as the one featured above. The cigar box holds a Linksys WRT54G v8 router that gets 7.5 volts at 500 milliamps thanks to the solar panel and the sun. Five AA rechargeable batteries are also included that can be juiced up via the solar panel, which will come in handy when the sun goes down and you still need your Wi-Fi repeater to be operational. The custom DD-WRT firmware is already installed, allowing it to scan and connect to the strongest signal automatically, after which the signal is repeated. Instructions on how to create a similar device are already available online.
