Could Google be leaving trails to the wrong place all this while? We thought that Gingerbread would be Android 3.0, but it seems that another version has cropped up recently – and we’re referring to a more realistic Android 2.3. The image above that you see is actually from Google’s “issues” repository, which is more or less a place for just about anyone to report a bug or request a feature. Issue 8804 points toward problems connecting to corporate Wi-Fi after the Froyo update (to be more specific, “wpa_supplicant 0.6.10 (froyo) unable to auth in a wpa2/enterpise wifi”). It seems that a Googler recently responded that a patch will be available in the next “major release” which is Android 2.3. Could this be the smoking gun that we’ve been looking for?
