Viewsonic G Pad Flies Solo With Android 2.2
After showing off its dual-booting ViewPad 100 tablet at IFA, Viewsonic is back again with the Viewsonic G Pad Android tablet. The G Pad, unlike the ViewPad 100 which can boot into Windows 7 and Android, runs only the Android 2.2 operating system and comes with the Tegra 2 processor, rear camera, 16 GB storage, 1 GB RAM, Bluetooth, WiFi, and ports for USB and HDMI. HD video fans will be pleased to know that the tablet could decode 1080p videos for output to an HD TV; the tablet can handle content only at 1,024 x 600 resolution on its 10-inch screen. The device is expected in October for $529, which comes in at about the same price that Apple’s entry level iPad is selling at. There is a SIM card slot that won’t be activated by default according to LaptopMag’s video, though Viewsonic says that you may be able to go overseas for mobile broadband data.
