Sony Handycam DCR-SX15E and Handycam DCR-SR15E announced at IFA 2010

Sony has certainly not held back at IFA 2010, with two more camcorders (standard definition, unfortunately for those of you seeking for something that is state-of-the-art) – the Handycam DCR-SX15E and Handycam DCR-SR15E. Despite flying the standard definition banner, both models are touted to deliver decent video quality, coming with high-power 50x optical zoom lenses, SteadyShot image stabilization, and automatic Face Detection. A thumb-operated joystick located beside the flip-out 2.7-inch Clear Photo LCD display allows you to fiddle with settings and menus in a jiffy, while an Auto mode will let you switch the video light on whenever natural light levels run low. What makes the difference between the two would be the Handycam DCR-SX15E running on either a Memory Stick or SD memory card since it lacks any form of internal memory (sad), while the Handycam DCR-SR15E lets you record up to 61 hours of Standard Definition video on its 80GB built-in hard drive, now how about that? No word on pricing at press time, but both models will hit the market sometime next month.
