Sony is updating its Bloggie consumer cam with a full touchscreen viewfinder that moves some of the camera controls onto the touchscreen user interface. The Bloggie Touch from Sony now sports a slim, modern look and will feature minimal buttons to be available in several colors come this October. Pricing will be at $180 for 4 GB and $200 for 8 GB.
As its name implies, the Bloggie Touch features a touchscreen with a more intuitive user interface than some competing products, like the Kodak Zi8 and Flip Slide. Controls for zooming, adjusting the resolution, setting timer, and other settings control are handled via the touchscreen UI. There are only three buttons on this camcorder–power on/off, a large video recording button just below the touchscreen viewfinder, and when you hold the camera in landscape orientation like a traditional still camera, the camera shutter button will be located at the top there (or side of the camera depending on which way you’re looking).
In terms of hardware specs, the Bloggie Touch will feature full 1080p HD video capture support, digital stills capture at 12.8 megapixels, a swiveling USB connector for easy transfer to a computer, and also an HDMI output port.
