The Samsung Galaxy Beam i8520 that was released earlier this July with Android 2.1 in tow will not be receiving the Android 2.2 Froyo update in the future, simply because the “customer base is too small to justify for the allocation of dedicated resources at HQ.” Pretty lame excuse if you ask us, but considering the fact that it was released only in Singapore might have a sliver of justification on Samsung’s side (albeit still rather weak). We still think that any phone capable of supporting Android 2.2 should get the update, and the fact that the Galaxy Beam is no ordinary Android smartphone is not lost on us – after all, it is the first Android-powered handset to boast an integrated pico projector.
