Qualcomm Peanut Wireless Technology To Challenge Bluetooth And ZigBee
Qualcomm has confirmed that it’s working on an ultra-low power short-range wireless technology of its own, dubbed Peanut. According to what they said at EmTech@MIT 2010, the technology will only need fractions of a milliwatt of power to pump data at several megabits per second. Seems that Qualcomm has been working on such technology since 2006 and is already looking to upstage its competition such as Bluetooth and ZigBee next year. The benefit it has over said rivals is that it will require less power, which will probably mean that we can leave it turned on for longer periods of time without having our gadgets run out of juice.
