TiVo announces today that the company’s TiVo Premiere DVR will also get personalized streaming radio services via Pandora, which has been available as an app for a variety of smartphone platforms. The Pandora app for TiVo Premiere boxes will allow users to stream Internet-based radio channels that are created based on their preferences for music.
According to TiVo, “consumers can create a new free Pandora account, or sign-in with existing Pandora accounts to seamlessly and immediately enjoy their current stations on the television set. Users can also access Pandora stations created on TiVo on any other platform where they listen to Pandora, including PCs and smartphones and other connected devices.” TiVo’s Jim Denny, VP and GM of Product Marketing, says that with Pandora, the following functions are unlocked on the DVR box: “on-demand radio, audio podcasts, music videos, music from your PC, and more through the TV and with just one remote.”
