Speculation of when Nintendo’s 3D-toting 3DS portable gaming console would be released has been going around for some time and now Nintendo has made the details official. The 3DS will be shipping on February 26th over in Japan for 25,000 Yen ($298) and will be arriving in the US and Europe this March, though pricing outside of Japan wasn’t mentioned. At a press event, Nintendo also demonstrated the device’s ability to take your picture using the front-facing camera and automatically convert it into a Mii that can be edited using the Mii Studio on the 3DS. A special edition Super Mario DSi LL is also set to launch in Japan on October 28th for 18,000 Yen ($214), though the only difference will be the theme, and not hardware changes. A Wii Remote Plus was also confirmed to be in development and will be announced sometime in the future.
