Microsoft and WordPress maker Automattic have announced that Microsoft will be ditching its Windows Live Spaces blogging technology in favor of using WordPress as the default blogging option for Windows Live. Considering the popularity of WordPress in the blogging scene, it’s not too surprising to see Microsoft go down this path, a path that will see the many people who are using Windows Live Spaces moving to migrate their blogs to WordPress, which can be done from today. WordPress has also been confirmed as the default option when the updated Windows Live Writer blogging tool is released later this fall. If you’re not ready to migrate your blog just yet, you’re given the option of downloading your blog content to migrate later or delete your Space.
