GE’s DV1 mini HD camcorder is yet another player in the ever expanding mini camcorder market, and it is no slouch in terms of performance either. Capable of shooting full HD video, you will be able to store up to 29 minutes of full HD footage. That certainly doesn’t sound enough for even the average user, which is why there is an SD/SDHC memory card slot to further augment its storage capability to 32GB. To make matters more pleasing with each purchase, the DV1 is tougher than your average mini HD camcorder simply because it is waterproof up to 5m, shockproof up to 1.5m and is also dust-proof. Other hardware specifications include a 5.5mm fixed focal length lens (33mm-35mm film equivalent) and a 5-megapixel CMOS sensor, where you can also shoot still images if you so desire. Nice to know the DV1 also sports a built-in USB arm to save you the trouble of packing yet another cable on your travels. Expect General Electric’s DV1 is to arrive in the market later this October for a yet undisclosed price, but good thing it has a choice of green, orange and grey colors.
