Canon’s latest foray into the digital camera market has resulted in the PowerShot G12, where it will deliver High Definition video capture capability, not to mention its HS (High Sensitivity) System that is touted to deliver great looking images even in low light conditions – that’s something consumer class digital cameras haven’t been really able to master to date. Carrying Canon’s DIGIC 4 Image Processor within alongside a 10-megapixel high sensitivity CCD sensor, the G12 is more than capable of duking it out with the higher end compact digital camera market segment. It also holds the distinction of being the first PowerShot G-series model that can record 720p HD video, boasting a 2.8-inch vari-angle LCD at 461k resolution, you will also be able to benefit from a new control dial which makes it a snap to adjust camera settings in the same vein as that of a Canon Digital SLR. Expect the PowerShot G12 to retail for $499.99 as it hits the market in early October later this year. Get this if you want to tread nearer to the DSLR market, although those who want something more advanced might want to make the jump to Micro Four Thirds right away. [Press Release]
