We recently brought the PS Jailbreak USB modchip to your attention, which is a USB device that claims to allow users to create backups of their original games on the internal or an external drive connected to the PS3. One of the stumbling blocks for many folks is the $169 price tag of the modchip, which could be turned into an expensive piece of plastic if Sony decides to cripple it via a firmware update. Now clones of the PS Jailbreak USB modchip have started to surface, dubbed the x3JAILBREAK,offering users a cheaper solution to get the job done, and it’ll (apparently) only lighten your wallet by $20 or $40. Of course, the original creators of the PS Jailbreak are warning against buying cheap knockoffs and that the original modchip offers complete warranty and support from the author of the device, while the clones may not do so. Will these USB modchips for the PS3 become a popular business over the next few months?
