The iPhone 4 has finally received its first widely available jailbreak tool, thanks to the unofficial iPhone Dev-Team. Known as JailbreakMe, it will rely on an exploit in Safari to derestrict the phone over the web. Similar to other jailbreaks in the past, this will definitely void your handset’s warranty as long as it remains installed, but the advantage that comes from that would be the ability to run unsigned apps as well as the enabling of other features which Apple restricts under normal use. Bear in mind that it will not work with the iPad’s 3.2.1 firmware, although that is not the case with older versions of the firmware. You can of course revert to a regular build of iOS by connecting to iTunes and choosing to restore the firmware.
