If there was any doubt that the T-Mobile G2 and the HTC Vision are the same device, it should be dispelled by the leaked ROM that has just surfaced. The firmware confirms that the G2 will be running Android 2.2 Froyo, and there wasn’t any mention of HTC’s Sense UI, so there is the possibility that it might become a flagship Android phone for Google and use the stock Android user interface. The code also confirms that the G2 will offer HSPA+ 3G download speeds up to 14.4Mbps, instead of the possible 21Mbps that can be found in modems and routers. The leaked firmware is from an engineering test dated August 20th, which means it’s quite recent, and if the device is going to meet the rumored late September release date, it doesn’t look like it will be shipping with Android 3.0 at all.
