Researchers over at the Georgia Institute of Technology have announced the availability of a developer preview of Kamra, a mobile browser that is based on open web standards. The platform is built upon a framework of channel servers, infrastructure servers, geospot servers, and an open source, standards-based mobile client. 3D models from the infrastructure servers are used to correctly place the augmented reality content within a scene and also ensure that it works in accordance with the user’s behavior and interaction. It seems that much effort is being poured into augmented reality development recently, and that does make us look forward to more cool augmented reality applications surfacing in the future.
