The high-end HP ENVY family of laptop also gets a product update, with a new laptop, the ENVY 14 Beats (above image) and a stereo 3D update for the ENVY 17. The ENVY 14 Beats is interesting because it has more battery life than its 15″ predecessor and also features a backlit keyboard – that DJs would definitely need in the dark (the red backlight looks awesome btw). At 14.5″, the display is sizeable but with a resolution of 1366×768 the pixel count is comparable to some 13.3″ laptops out there. Inside, the ENVY 14 Beats is a very decent computer, with a Core i5 processor and 4GB of RAM. There’s 640GB of disk storage, gigabit Ethernet and everything that you would expect. What’s more unusual is the high-end audio components that should contribute to a pristine sound (good enough for Beats to put its brand on it). DJs, start to drool.
The ENVY 17 upgrade is more obvious: with a 120hz,1080p, LCD display and an integrated infra-red synchronization mechanism for the glasses, it can play full HD stereo 3D movies in all their glory. I would recommend being 3 or 4 feet away from the display to fully appreciate the stereo image.
