The folks over at the FCC have given their collective nods of approval for ZTE’s Fivespot global mobile hotspot that will be making its way over for Verizon. This device is meant to take over where MiFi has left off, where it will offer support for triband HSPA as well as EV-DO, where the latter will definitely come in handy if you tend to do a whole lot of traveling outside of the US, and need 3G data coverage in the process. While whispers abound of this device being canceled recently, but it has yet to be confirmed. Bear in mind that just because the FCC has approved a particular device, that doesn’t mean it will be released.
