E Ink to expand electrophoretic display adoption in other devices
E Ink of Taiwan has announced that its EPD (electrophoretic display) will not only see action in devices such as ebook readers, but will also make an appearance across a variety of other consumer electronics such as keyboards, tags, watches, and advertising displays among others. Scott Liu, chairman of E Ink Holdings, did note that EPD can be adopted for handset keypads as well as notebook keyboards – now that’s something, and wer’e sure that the super low power requirements will not affect battery life adversely in any way at all. If this ever kicks off in a big way, then it will make the Optimus Maximus keyboard look like a dinosaur.
