China Unicom achieves a first from next week onwards with the release of a Wi-Fi-enabled iPhone 3GS – making it the first of its kind in that part of the world, and that alone has also made rumors of the new iPhone 4 smartphone being offered as well. China Unicom announced today that it will be delivering the 8GB iPhone 3GS with Wi-Fi capability from next Monday onwards, which brings to a stop of previous government regulations that prevented the sales of iPhones with Wi-Fi capability. Of course, that move did make “gray market” versions of the iPhone with such function all the more desirable, but guess that will no longer be the case. So, when will the iPhone 4 hit China next? Unicom have already talked to Apple about it, but have yet to come up with anything concrete.
