From edutainment software, we now have edutainment robots with the AISoy 1 from AISoy Robotics of Spain. It has the potential of being the next Furby, where this Linux-powered robot might end up to be needier than your average toddler – after all, it also has basic needs like nourishment, security, love (according to the designer – don’t ask us how robots can comprehend love), recognition as well as getting along well with everyone it comes across. Touted to be dynamic, the AISoy 1 will come with a 1-megapixel camera for facial recognition (up to 4 individuals), and can display 14 emotional states. We wonder whether anger is part of it, and how destructive will it be? We’re not too happy that the developer places it on almost the same level as a living being, since at the end of the day it is but a robot, and emotions don’t come into play here not to mention a psychological makeup that is almost human. Get a puppy instead, we say. To get a better idea on how the AISoy 1 will interact, we have a video of it in action after the jump.
