Samsung’s N230 Slim netbook has just gone official, where this netbook remains true to its name by measuring a mere 2.3cm in thickness. Tipping the scales at a mere 1.2kg, one of the reasons why it looks slim is due to an optical illusion – Samsung’s engineers decided to place its hinges in the rear, hence making it pleasing to look at from many angles. While a 7 hour battery life is fantastic for netbooks if this is 2007, this is 2010, where 8 hours is more or less the minimum. The N230 Slim also comes with an older generation Intel Atom N450 1.66GHz processor which does not support DDR3 RAM, carrying a 250GB hard drive, a 10.1″ LED display at 1,024 x 600 resolution, a trio of USB 2.0 ports, a memory card reader and a VGA webcam. At least the one part that keeps up with the times would be the inclusion of Wi-Fi N and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, although we would have liked to see USB 3.0 round off the next-generation technology inside.
