Automobile manufacturers seem to be doing their level best to try and turn their vehicles into eco machines, and incorporate electric power into them. Word is now going around that Ford’s next-generation Focus could be powered by a turbocharged petrol engine along with an electric motor that is mounted on the car’s rear axle. The vehicle hasn’t appeared on the company’s roadmap yet, but the Focus RS should be using Ford’s 2.0-liter Ecoboost petrol engine that is capable of churning out 250hp of power to spin the front wheels, while it’ll couple with an electric motor setup mounted on the rear axle. Benefits of this setup include enhanced performance and obviously some nice eco credentials.
