Swype Trying To Get Into The iPhone?

If you aren’t already familiar with Swype, it’s a rather nifty input system for virtual keyboards. Instead of having to punch the letters one by one, you’ll be able to swipe (hence the name) your finger over the letters without having to let go, and the software will magically predict the word you’re trying to type out. It’s pioneered by Cliff Kushler, the inventor of the T9 predictive input method. The interesting thing is that the company is currently working on a version of its input software for the iPhone, and is hoping that it might be able to license its keyboard technology to Apple, though it hasn’t been officially pitched to Apple just yet. Swype already has licensing deals with smartphone makers such as Motorola, Samsung and HTC. Are you hoping that Swype will eventually make it to Apple’s iPhone, or do you think that Apple’s virtual keyboard is good enough to do the job?
