Despite many things going virtual, physical business cards are still very common, and it’s generally quite troublesome to scan a business into your computer. Now a Japanese stationary maker, King Jim, has come up with the Pitrec, which is a pretty small card scanner that stores the digital versions of business cards on its microSD card. Using it is fairly simple, as you just have to place the card on a slot on the side of the device, and hit the shutter button. OCR (optical character recognition) allows the device to detect details such as name, title, company name etc. Contacts can be viewed on Pitrec’s 3.5-inch 400 x 240 pixel TFT display. It’ll be going on sale in Japan from August 6th, and will set you back $310.
