Google has certainly gained plenty of ground, with it achieving the rating of the third most popular browser Stateside at the moment, placing it behind Microsoft’s Internet Explorer as well as Mozilla’s Firefox. This means Google’s Chrome is now ahead of Apple’s Safari for the first time, hitting a share of around 8.97% percent, which is a wee bit ahead of Safari at 8.88%. As for those who are interested in statistics outside of the US, Chrome has already overtaken Safari a while back, currently enjoying more than double Safari’s 4% share at 9.4%. This could very well boil down to the browser’s support for different languages, with Safari supporting 16 languages while Chrome has over thrice the amount.
