Want to play chess with your friend who’s in another country, but still want to enjoy the fun of using a real chess board? If you had this DIY chess robot, things would be a lot more fun, as it’s capable of moving the chess pieces around the board according to instructions, and is able to rotate the board up to 180 degrees, moving the pieces within easier reach of the robotic arm. With it, you’ll be able to play chess via a social networking service, and the moves that your friend makes on his end will be replicated on your chess board too. If you’re alone, you can also hook it up to a chess playing software, which will then act as the brains of this chess playing robot. Check out a video of it in action after the jump.
