Yahoo might be testing new ground with the Alcatel One Touch Net, where it will be the first handset in the world that fully integrates Yahoo mobile services. It comes in a no-frills candybar form factor (you won’t go wrong with such a design, since there are no moving parts for you to worry about), sporting features such as a 2.4″ display, EDGE connectivity, stereo Bluetooth support, built-in music playback, an integrated FM radio, a 2-megapixel camera and 80MB of internal memory. Other Yahoo services that come pre-installed include Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Messenger, Yahoo! Search, Yahoo! Homepage, Yahoo! Social Pulse, Yahoo! Address Book and Calendar, and Flickr. Retailing for less than a Benjamin, it will hit various South East Asian countries, although arriving at India from next month onwards. One does wonder why it has not been touted Stateside yet – perhaps initial probes to its viability on this part of the world proved that there isn’t a ready market for a Yahoo phone as it will probably get slaughtered amongst all the Android and iPhone smartphones.
