An FCC filing submitted by Nintendo and Mitsumi seem to show a picture of what could be the upcoming Nintendo 3DS. While the device pictured is most likely a test bed for the 3DS, not the final product, its two displays are very obvious. From the picture it does seem like the top screen is a widescreen display, giving hopes that the 3DS will offer widescreen gaming. This test board, labeled for the “DS CTR” has most of its components hidden, and Nintendo has requested that the inner details not be made public for 180 days dating from April 2010, which would mean the details should be available just before the Christmas shopping season. Test boards are commonly used by companies to make sure their basic ideas work the way they should, and help to identify problems on a more accessible platform before everything is shrunk for the final product. Are you looking forward to the upcoming Nintendo 3DS?
