Google seems to be shopping around for companies at the same rate that we shop for new flash drives, and now word is out that Google is offering a juicy $68.2 million for Global IP Solutions, a company that provides VoIP solutions for clients such as Yahoo. Coupled with the recent news that the search engine giant gobbled up Gizmo5, we’re inclined to think that Google is getting real serious about VoIP technology, not that it hasn’t been before this. The deal hasn’t been finalized yet, as it still needs to be approved by 90 percent of Global IP’s shareholders, but considering that the figure translates to a near 30 percent boost in the company’s stock price last week, it does seem to be heading in the direction that Google would favor, don’t you think?
